New piles of trash on the beach

I understand that APC has the exclusive right to dispose of garbage on the beach which has been raked up by the beach vendors. there are now some enormous piles of sea trash-stuff that is washed up on to the beach-which has not been removed for some time... we are coming into peak tourist season and this reflects badly on the community and of the peopl e in charge of trash removal. With exclusive rights come exclusive responsibilities.

As far as I know the authorities of Puerto Plata ( City Hall) is in charge of the cleaning of all beaches, which are ALL public. Why would an association like APC take the responsibility for a job like that for FREE ? Not very smart - according to my humble opinion !

Time to raise this subject again now that the new board is talking to the Ayuntamiento de Puerto Plata.

It is not right that APC should clear the beach garbage since much of it comes from the ocaen itself and not through the activities of residents or visitors. APC does come along regularly but does not have the equipment to deal with the mess when we have had a period of high onshore winds. The beach people do a good job of cleaning part of the beach, but surely we must persuade the Ayuntamiento and Public Health to take over the collection. Its no good collecting garbage from one side of the street and leaving that on the other side. The rats take over which is NOT good for public (read our)health. Now that Puerto Plata has all those shiny new garbage trucks, they can easily handle this issue without expense to our residents..just needs us to negotiate a new agreement.
