Please find below the contents of an email sent to me by Raf, regarding a recent APC Town Hall Meeting (09/20/10)
Hello group,
Following, excerpts of APC Board President Yash Aggarwal, in regards to the recent (9-20-10) APC Town Hall Meeting, which was held at L'Oase:
The meeting was attended by some 15 persons. Gonzalo Bustos (Junta de Vecinos) and Ricardo Catena (from the Atlantico) and a third person (none of which pay APC dues), left the meeting upon being reminded the meeting was for those paying their dues.
Following a brief review of APC finances, Security network and new Board members (see below), the issue of the recently reported meeting of the illegal Junta de Vecinos of Costambar (hereinafter referred to as JdeV) with PP's City Hall was discussed. There was general approval of the tone of a letter APC had sent to Mayor Walter Musa. Some in the audience felt this matter of the JdeV and City Hall was not going anywhere, particularly since it seemed the Mayor and Vice-Minister of Tourism were not in favor of the JdeV.
Nevertheless, it was agreed that the APC President plus some members of the Board and a few of the APC employees will attend the next public meeting of City Council scheduled for October 13th. 2010, in order to present our case in person.
It was suggested another letter be written to City Hall, in regards to the mess left behind by their street-cleaning contraption it recently sent to Costambar, at the behest of the JdeV.
The case of APC renting office space from someone who does not pay his dues was also discussed and the general consensus was against continuing to do so. A former Board member volunteered to approach the owner of the APC office space and induce him to pay his dues. It was agreed not to sign a lease until the owner agrees to pay and will therefore just rent on a month to month basis until APC finds an alternative office space, in case the owner refuses to pay his dues.
Some felt the cleaning of the beach was an important issue and Don Docker took the responsibility of approaching the beach vendors and explore the possibility the interested parties could come to an agreement on a plan to improve the beach and keep it clean. Liana Swerdlin to repair street lights that are non-functional and that very day, she received RD$ 5000 from interested parties who want certain lights repaired along the beach road.
Overall, it was a cordial meeting that produced desirable results.
Yash Aggarwal
APC Board President.
